Have you ever been cursed out at work? Someone shared their experience getting cursed out a work by an irate client. The client called and reported a maintenance issue. Of course, maintenance workers are few and far in between and so unless the problem being reported is catastrophic, clients will simply have to wait their turn. This particular client was not satisfied with having to wait. So, without warning the irate client drove all the way to the corporate office (headed specifically to the maintenance office) and cursed out the receptionist (problem #1) and made his way back to the maintenance office and commenced to cursing out the administrative assistant whom he believed took the maintenance request.

The client used the f-bomb and every other foul-mouthed word imaginable. So, you're wondering, what did the administrative assistant do? She did the only reasonable thing there was to do in this situation and called PG County Police on that fool! Considering the fact that jobs are hard to find, and assaulting a client would have led to an immediate termination, the administrative assistant made the right choice. The client was immediately escorted off of the property, and I'm hoping that a restraining order will follow.

A couple of things are wrong with this picture. The receptionist should have had enough common sense to alert her manager that there was a hostile man in the building. At that point, the manager should have implemented whatever kind of "Active Angry Client" plan that they may have had in place to alert other employees of a possible situation. Or, the receptionist could have called the police and alerted her manager. The angry client should never have been able to walk through the building seeking out his target. What would have happened if this client had a weapon?

If you are ever in a situation with an angry person and it doesn't appear that talking calmly and trying to reason with the individual will work, immediately seek assistance from someone with more authority (even if it is the police) to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you.

While not everyone exercises self-control and others feel entitled to do and say whatever they please, just make sure that they know, try as you may, but you will face swift consequences if you bring that heat your way.
